Co-regulation: how much is too much?

I made this mindmap for a recent project to show just what is involved in active regulation of a child's distress by a caregiver - and this isn't everything ! It feels like research is really getting to the bottom of the active processes involved in regulation and where it can 'go wrong'.

This is based on our paper on regulatory strategies for the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatery (JCPP): Annual Research Review: ‘There, the dance is – at the still point of the turning world’ – dynamic systems perspectives on coregulation and dysregulation during early development https://lnkd.in/eTZmmKfA together with my PhD supervisor and other lovely colleagues.
